File-sharing within social networks: friend or foe?

Though file-sharing has been a problem for record labels for the past decade, social networks are making it easier than ever for users to distribute content. Is this a problem for the companies that produce this content? Or should they look at social media as a valuable new marketing tooland re-structure accordingly?
